A Party and Some Tigers!

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Last Sunday, Andrea and I threw a party for Mom and Dad. They turned 60 in April and June and had their 35th wedding anniversary in February, so we figured that deserved a party! It rained all day until their party at 2 and then it turned beautiful. We may have had said a few prayers for it to clear up!

Andrea has a friend that does cakes, so we had her duplicate (a few less tiers) their wedding cake. Mom still had her cake topper!
Mom and Dad cutting the cake. They even used the same knife and server. Jim and I used those, too.

Family shot. We missed Erik, but he wasn’t feeling well.
Yesterday, Mom, Dad, Andrea, Erik, Jim and I went to the Tigers game. We had great seats – only 30 rows back! We drove through rain all the way there. There was a short rain delay, then beautiful weather during the game. As soon as we left it started to rain again. We drove through a really really bad storm on the way back. But once again, God answered our prayers for clear weather when we needed (wanted) it!

Our Tiger, Brandon Inge, up at bat. Unfortunately, he didn’t do too well.

Miguel Cabrera – he didn’t too well either!

Curtis Granderson, hit a beauty… right into the glove of a Seattle player…

Comerica Park – very nice and apparently supports our auto makers

Speedo????

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Holiday tomorrow! I couldn’t be more excited… well if I got more than one day off, I guess I would be.
What have we been up to? Well, Saturday morning I ran the Reeds Lake Run. I got my best 5K time ever: 29:27! It was the perfect weather and wasn’t as crowded as the Riverbank, so you could set a pretty good pace without having to dodge 10,000 people.

Later that day, we celebrated my Dad’s birthday. We met at Olive Garden in Muskegon and then topped off the day with mini-golf at Craig’s Cruisers and ice cream at Whippi Dip. It was such a good time. Andrea got 6 hole-in-one’s! Jim got yelled at for bumping on the go-carts, and Dad got the best score in mini-golf. Mom got 3 or 4 hole-in-one’s and I got 2 or so. We had a blast.
Sunday was a good day, too, but less exciting. Jim and I took a bike ride to a local park (actually it was the park where we got our engagment pictures taken). They have a mile or so trail around the lake. We walked it once, Jim ran it once and I followed on bike and then we rode it around again and headed home. Jim’s thinking about doing a triathalon… we shall see. He did tell me that he would probably wear a speedo for the swimming part and maybe throw on shorts for the biking and running part… The words “speedo” and “maybe” are key here… again… we shall see.
Sunday was also Michele’s 25th birthday!! Happy birthday!
Hope you have a great 4th! I will post pictures of the run later on. They are still on the camera…

Birthday Boy

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Jim’s birthday was yesterday, June 17. He turned the big 2-7. He said he really enjoyed his birthday. We went to the 9 o’clock service and heard Ed Dobson speak. He is so good and still has so much energy. He spoke on forgiveness, which is something we hear about a lot, but his way of explaining it, brings a new and refreshing light to it. The free download of the teaching will be here after Tuesday, if you want to take a listen.
Then we headed to Holland State Park and met his family for lunch. We spent the rest of the afternoon in the water and on the beach. Josh and Michele also joined us. Apparently the sun blocked my ability to have any common sense, because I didn’t use much sunscreen and well… we were out in the sun for at least 4 hours. I also fell asleep on my stomach. I am in a little (lot) of pain today. I am so dumb…

So, it was a good day in all. I am so thankful for my wonderful husband and I think he’s pretty cute, too. Hope year 27 is a good one. :-)
